Book Blogger Confessions Book Tag

I’m sitting here watching Captain America: Civil War, and thought I would do a tag. Amanda at Literary Weaponry recently did this tag and I really liked it. I enjoy doing tags for the most part, especially when I find it hard to think of things to write about. Please make sure you check out the lovely Amanda’s blog!!!

  1. Answer these questions truthfully
  2. Once you’re done, tag 5 other book bloggers to answer these questions next.

Which book, most recently, did you not finish?

Girls of paper and fire

Unfortunately my last DNF was Girl of Paper and Fire by Natasha Ngan. I felt quite bad about this one because it was really hyped, and it had some great representation in it. I just couldn’t connect with the main character and I tend to struggle with first person present tense. I will probably try it again later and see if it was just because of my mood.

Which book is your guilty pleasure?

Well, I don’t really believe in ‘guilty pleasures’, as I think you should never feel guilty about the things that you love. I would say that a book series I love that tends to get shunned by the book community, is the Hush Hush series by Becca Fitzpatrick. These books are pretty problematic, however it doesn’t stop me from having a soft spot from this rather weird series.

Which book do you love to hate?

fifty shades of grey

Hahahahahaha Definitely Fifty Shades of Grey by EL James. The whole series is just so freaking bad. Although, props to the movies because they are actually worse than the books. I will never be able to get over the terrible characters, terrible writing and the fact that it is Twilight fanfic.

Which book would you throw into the sea?

Honestly, I don’t think there is really any book out there other than Fifty Shades, that I would willingly ruin.

Which book have you read the most?

Heir of Fire by Sarah J Maas. That book is one of my favourite books of all time, and has helped me so much. I loved Aelin’s transformation in this book and her friendship with Rowan.

Which book would you hate to receive as a present?

I don’t want to be ungrateful, but I wouldn’t like someone buying me a book without double checking with me first. I have so many books these days, that buying me a book could result in a double-up or buying me a book I’ve already read.

Which book could you not live without?

muse of nightmares

This is an extremely hard question because I have so many books that I feel like I couldn’t live without. This time around I think I would have to go with Muse of Nightmares by Laini Taylor. It has such a lovely message and a lovely ending, and lovely characters. I would be happy living with just this book, if I had to.

Which book made you the angriest?

I wouldn’t say angry, but a book that just annoyed the hell out of me was Caraval by Stephanie Garber. That book was waaaay overhyped and it really just wan’t a good book. It had all the things that annoy me in books – instalove, a damsel in distress and a predictable storyline.

Which book made you cry the most?

clockwork princess

The ending of Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare. I am even at the point where I will finish at a certain chapter in order to avoid the part that makes me cry. I will never NOT cry at the ending of that series, it really cuts my heart to pieces.

Which book cover do you hate the most?

the mortal instruments

All 6 books in The Mortal Instruments. I love the newer covers, I think they are really nice and I would love to get them. But the original book covers are just so terrible….sooooooo terrible.

I tag

Anyone who wants to do this one, consider yourself tagged!!!

  1. Shame you didn’t finish Girls of Paper and Fire! I loved it but I was in the mood for it and I think that’s important. If you do end up giving it another chance, just be careful with the trigger warnings for rape & assault & violence against women. I think it’s a very important book but I did struggle to read it.

LMAO I remember Hush Hush! Omg I loved those books so freaking much! Looking back, I can see now that they were a bit problematic but at the time I remember thinking “Finally, a book where she doesn’t immediately fall in love with the guy who admitted he wants to kill her” like in Twilight haha. I really want to reread this series but I’m afraid I won’t like it as much as I used to!

And I’m the same about getting books as presents! check with me first!

    Great post 😘

    1. Yeah I think the triggering content was one of the reasons why I was struggling at that point in time.

Hahaha yeah I loved Hush, Hush, and Patch! But then when I think of it I remember that Patch was very stalkery haha. I think I might reread this series this year, and if I don’t like it I will gift the books to someone lol.

      Thanks lovely xx
